The President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, has issued decrees appointing new ambassadors to Tajikistan and the Philippines, as well as recalling the current Ambassador to Cyprus. Armen Ghevondyan, who serves as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Kazakhstan, will now also represent Armenia in Tajikistan, while maintaining his base in Astana. Meanwhile, Suren Baghdasaryan, the Ambassador to Vietnam, is appointed as Ambassador to the Philippines with his residence in Hanoi. In a related directive, Tigran Mkrtchyan has been recalled from his position as the Ambassador to Cyprus.

The recent changes in diplomatic representation are part of Armenia’s broader strategy to strengthen international relations. Appointing ambassadors concurrently helps streamline diplomatic efforts while maintaining the country’s presence in multiple regions. The recall of Tigran Mkrtchyan indicates a potential reorganization of Armenia’s diplomatic missions and reflects ongoing evaluations of its foreign diplomacy and strategy.

In summary, Armenia’s President has appointed two new ambassadors, positioning them concurrently in Tajikistan and the Philippines, while also recalling the ambassador to Cyprus. These appointments signify an intention to enhance Armenia’s diplomatic engagements in these regions. The strategic placements of Ghevondyan and Baghdasaryan are seen as integral to fostering stronger relationships and improving diplomatic outreach.
