The Drexel Climate Change and Urban Health Research Center, alongside the SALURBAL-Climate initiative, invites participants to an upcoming webinar featuring Dr. Aina Roca-Barceló on February 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Dr. Roca-Barceló serves as a Climate Adaptation Advisor at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) within the Humanitarian Action for Climate and Environment (HACE) team. Her pivotal work includes the development of MSF’s inaugural systematic heat response plans.

This webinar focuses on the pivotal intersections of climate change and urban health, specifically highlighting urban heat effects in cities like São Paulo, Brazil. Dr. Roca-Barceló’s presentation will detail her research utilizing a random forest approach in machine learning to estimate daily mean temperatures at a high spatial resolution of 500 x 500 meters. This innovative work is particularly aimed at assessing health impacts related to temperature fluctuations and social inequalities in mortality.
