He noted that the intent behind the UAE’s plans contradicts the principles of the African Union, which emphasizes respect for national sovereignty and unity among member states.
Agar criticized the timing of the conference, scheduled for February 14, coinciding with discussions among African leaders at the Peace and Security Council. He argued that this time was deliberately chosen to divert attention away from Sudan’s interests and turn the conference into a political maneuver benefiting Emirati objectives.
He also called upon Ethiopia to prioritize common interests and commended Egypt’s opposition to the UAE’s plans. Sudan firmly rejected external discussions about its internal matters, especially when spearheaded by nations not part of the African Union.
Furthermore, Agar accused the UAE of attempting to disguise its involvement in supporting terrorism and for arming the RSF. He affirmed that Sudan will not tolerate interference in its domestic affairs and urged global communities to unify against such manipulation.
He noted that the Sudanese military and national forces are making strides towards restoring security, emphasizing that while military actions are necessary, they should facilitate an eventual political dialogue that honors victims’ rights and reinstates the state.
