Villa Vie Residence’s Odyssey Begins Its Journey through Brazil

The Villa Vie Residence’s Odyssey has arrived in Brazil, marking a notable stop in its world cruise. Docking in Santos, the ship will explore various Brazilian destinations, including a significant Carnival celebration in Rio de Janeiro. The voyage began from Buenos Aires, and Odyssey features a unique living concept on board and refreshed public amenities after recent refurbishment.

The Villa Vie Residence’s Odyssey has officially reached Brazil this week, continuing its extensive three-and-a-half year world cruise. The vessel, which had set sail from Buenos Aires, Argentina, on February 18, 2025, docked in Santos for a three-day visit starting on February 24, 2025. Following its time in Santos, the Odyssey is scheduled to explore nearly 15 diverse destinations in Brazil over the coming month.

After departing Santos on February 26, the Odyssey will make stops at Ilhabela, followed by Paraty, Ilha Grande, Búzios, and Cabo Frio. A significant highlight of its itinerary includes a three-day stay in Rio de Janeiro coinciding with the vibrant Carnival celebrations, along with visits to the Amazon region. The vessel will also visit other important ports such as Maceió, Fortaleza, and Belém.

Mr. Rodrigo Lopes, the hotel manager of Odyssey, expressed enthusiasm for the ship’s extended stay in Brazil, stating, “We are very excited to visit Brazil, spending nearly one month in the country,” during an interview with Cruise Industry News. After departing from Europe in late September, Villa Vie’s Odyssey began its first world circumnavigation, projected to cover nearly 150 countries and over 425 destinations.

Mr. Lopes also shared his philosophy regarding travel, mentioning, “There’s something I always tell my passengers and crew when I’m onboard: the world is a beautiful place. Every place and every culture have its beauty. It’s a matter of knowing how to look and having an open mind to appreciate the beauty that people hold in their culture.”

Initially acquired by Villa Vie in late 2023, the Odyssey was previously operated by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines under the name Braemar. After an extensive refurbishment in a Northern Ireland dry dock, the 23,344-ton vessel officially began service last September, boasting a distinctive living concept that allows passengers to reside aboard the ship. The refurbishment included the addition of new public areas and guest amenities, including an office space.

In summary, the Villa Vie Residence’s Odyssey has commenced its long-anticipated journey through Brazil, beginning with a significant stop in Santos. The vessel’s itinerary promises to showcase Brazil’s cultural richness during iconic events like Carnival while visiting numerous notable ports across the country. The Odyssey’s unique living experience and extensive world tour underline a commitment to immersive travel and cultural appreciation.
