President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged Muslim leaders to unite in alleviating the suffering of Palestinians and Lebanese amidst ongoing Israeli aggression. With significant casualties reported, calls for solidarity and cooperative efforts have intensified. The lack of action by Muslim countries to support the Palestinian cause is becoming increasingly concerning in the face of external pressures, particularly from the United States.
TEHRAN – As Iranians commence the holy month of Ramadan following the sighting of the crescent moon, President Masoud Pezeshkian has addressed Muslim leaders, urging collective action to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians and Lebanese affected by prolonged Israeli aggression over the past eighteen months.
In his message, President Pezeshkian emphasized the significance of cooperation among Muslim countries, stating that through unity and compassion, there can be substantial efforts to mitigate the hardships faced by the oppressed populations in Gaza and Lebanon.
Since the onset of renewed violence in October 2023, over 46,000 Palestinians and 3,000 Lebanese have lost their lives due to Israeli airstrikes. This aggression has resulted in substantial destruction across both territories, as well as heightened tensions that could lead to a regional conflict.
Iran has consistently called upon Muslim nations to unite and support those being targeted, urging countries with strong ties to Israel to temporarily sever these relations. Notably, this appeal has largely been overlooked by the majority of Muslim nations.
Analysts express concern that failure to address Israeli aggression could yield greater consequences for regional states. Egypt and Jordan, in particular, face pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump to accept over 2 million Palestinians that he intends to expel from Gaza, alongside threats of financial aid withdrawal if they do not comply.
President Masoud Pezeshkian’s call to Muslim leaders highlights the urgent need for increased support for Palestinians and Lebanese suffering under Israeli military actions. The significant loss of life and massive destruction underscore the consequences of inaction. As regional tensions escalate, countries must reconsider their responses to ensure the humanitarian crisis is addressed.
