MMPN Collaborates with Chief Imam to Promote Accurate Islamic Reporting

The MMPN of Edo State visited Chief Imam Abdulfatah Enabulele to discuss collaboration for accurate reporting on Islamic matters. The discussions aimed to address misinformation and promote positive narratives about Islam and the Benin Muslim community, particularly during Ramadan. Both parties are committed to enhancing community support and fostering a better understanding of Islam.

The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Edo State chapter, recently visited Alhaji Abdulfatah Enabulele, Chief Imam of Benin Central Mosque, to discuss enhancing collaborative efforts for accurate reporting on Islamic issues. Their discussions aimed to forge a solid relationship that addresses misinformation while promoting positive narratives surrounding the Benin Muslim community and Islam at large.

Upon receiving the delegation, Chief Imam Enabulele recognized the vital function of Muslim media practitioners in the community. He stated, “I agree with you that we need to work together. Your coming at this period is timely. This collaboration is very strategic because the media is very key in whatever we do.” He further stated the necessity of involving various Islamic stakeholders, such as the League of Imams and the Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs.

The talks also included reflections on the Ramadan season, which Imam Enabulele noted as a time for self-examination and promoting community support. He encouraged Muslims to display kindness and charity, sharing their blessings with those less fortunate during this holy month, while emphasizing prayer and virtuous deeds.

Earlier, Mallam Abdullah Abdulkadir, the Acting President of the MMPN, informed the Chief Imam of the association’s establishment in 1997. He emphasized the significance of their visit in fostering collaboration with the Imam’s office to facilitate impactful advancements within the Islamic community, particularly in correcting misinformation and highlighting the contributions of Muslim leaders and organizations to society.

Both the MMPN and the Chief Imam’s office reaffirmed their dedication to collaborating in order to foster a deeper understanding of Islam and enhance positive engagement by Muslims, particularly during the Ramadan season and beyond.

The collaboration between the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria and the Chief Imam of Benin serves to address misinformation and nurture a positive representation of the Islamic community. Through their cooperative efforts, they aim to promote kindness and community support during Ramadan and ensure a balanced dissemination of information regarding Islamic matters. This partnership stands to strengthen the Muslim community’s portrayal and engagement in the Edo State region.
