Mongolian Foreign Minister Engages with Japanese Red Cross Society

Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Battsetseg Batmunkh, met with Japanese Red Cross President Atsushi Seike during her visit to Japan. They discussed cooperation in climate change, disaster management, and child education on emergency readiness. Minister Batmunkh received the Golden Order of Merit for her humanitarian contributions.

On March 5, 2025, during her official visit to Japan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Battsetseg Batmunkh, engaged with the President of the Japanese Red Cross Society, Atsushi Seike, and toured the Society’s Information Center. The Minister expressed appreciation for the Society’s valuable support in addressing climate change, disaster management, healthcare, and various social issues.

Minister Batmunkh underscored Mongolia’s dedication to combatting desertification and adapting to climate change while preventing significant natural disasters. She highlighted the importance of collaboration in educating children and youth on disaster preparedness to equip them with vital skills for emergency response.

In their discussions, President Seike acknowledged the assistance from the Mongolian government and the Mongolian Red Cross Society, particularly during recovery efforts after the earthquake in Ishikawa Prefecture. They agreed to continue their joint efforts in disaster risk reduction, emergency response, and preparedness training.
