Local reports indicate that recent confrontations have seen both army and allied forces resisting numerous RSF assaults, often to the detriment of civilian populations who are enduring incessant bombardments.
Currently, while the RSF occupies a majority of Darfur, the regular army holds territories in the eastern and northern regions, reportedly gaining a foothold in the capital, Khartoum. In North Darfur, nearly 1.7 million residents are now displaced, with around two million facing extreme food insecurity. Of these, 320,000 individuals are believed to be experiencing famine conditions as assessed by the United Nations. Famine has impacted three camps—Zamzam, Abu Shouk, and Al-Salam—and is projected to extend to additional areas, including El-Fasher, by May.
