On February 26, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding participated in the Launch and Donation Ceremony for the “Bright Journey” Programme, designed for cataract surgery in Zimbabwe. Joining him was Douglas T. Mombeshora, the Minister of Health and Child Care. The event was further marked by the presence of a team of Chinese medical experts and cataract patients’ representatives.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Zhou emphasized that the “Bright Journey” Programme serves as a tangible initiative in alignment with the Health Partnership Action established at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). He noted that this effort marks a significant occasion in honoring the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Zimbabwe, and it is expected to assist over 600 cataract patients in regaining their eyesight.
