This marks a significant reduction from the initial target of 40 contracts and the original projection of 71 contracts worth CFA317 billion as discussed in a steering committee report in March 2024 concerning road integration and transport facilitation.
The annual budget for the unit was revised to CFA201 billion from an initial projection of CFA289 billion. Notably, CFA130 billion was utilized, indicating a 64% execution rate. Previous allocations included CFA284 billion for investments and CFA5 billion for operational costs.
Despite these budget constraints, important projects progressed. The unit completed 13 studies, of which four were road studies involving a total of 661 km. Additionally, over 193 km of roads were either rehabilitated or upgraded, with 95% of the planned works accomplished. Savings generated from various projects funded an extra 119 km of municipal roads.
Furthermore, these funds facilitated the expansion of the northern access road to Yaoundé by 22 km and the rehabilitation of the Mora-Tchakamari road situated in the Far North region.
