During the meeting, Lazo Hernández reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Tanzania and expressed gratitude for Tanzania’s support in advocating for the end of the U.S. blockade and the removal of Cuba from the list of “State Sponsors of Terrorism.” Mwinyi, who extended greetings to Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, acknowledged Cuba’s solidarity with Africa, particularly in healthcare, and reiterated Tanzania’s support for Cuba.
Additionally, Lazo Hernández conducted official discussions with Zubeir Ali Maulid, the head of the Zanzibar House of Representatives, aiming to enhance inter-parliamentary collaboration, establish friendship groups, and promote bilateral trade. Following these talks, he visited Cuban aid workers in Zanzibar and toured the Biolarvicide Plant in Kibaha, a project where Cuban specialists contribute to malaria control efforts.
