Cricket Association of Nepal Announces Comprehensive 2025 Calendar

The Cricket Association of Nepal has published its 2025 calendar featuring international tours for both the men’s and women’s teams, including plans for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers and a men’s preparatory camp leading up to the World Cup Qualifiers. The association is also focused on grassroots initiatives and the upcoming Nepal Premier League.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) revealed its cricketing calendar for 2025, outlining a packed year for both the men’s and women’s teams. The women’s senior team is currently participating in a quadrangular series in Uganda and has scheduled tours to Bhutan and Thailand for various tournaments. CAN Secretary Paras Khadka emphasized the commitment to develop women’s cricket, stating, “This year will be a busy one for the women’s team.”

The calendar includes significant events such as the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers in May and a tri-series with Malaysia, UAE, and Nepal in October. Moreover, CAN plans to host its first Women’s Elite Cup in October and has proposed a women’s series with Sri Lanka. For the men’s team, a tour to Sri Lanka in July is confirmed, which will serve as a preparatory camp for the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers scheduled for October in Oman.

The men’s team is also set to visit India, Australia, and the UAE in August and September in anticipation of the qualifiers. With a focus on qualifying for the World Cup, Khadka stated, “Our main priority for this year is to qualify for the World Cup and get as many points as possible in the CWC League 2.”

Furthermore, CAN’s calendar includes the player retention process and a mini-auction for the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) planned for June and August, respectively. Khadka noted that the dates for the NPL will be announced once the International Cricket Council (ICC) gives approval for the tournament. Additionally, a National School Championship aimed at SEE-graduate students is in the works for May, as CAN seeks to boost grassroots cricket initiatives across Nepal.

The Cricket Association of Nepal has laid out an extensive cricketing calendar for 2025, highlighting substantial activity for both men’s and women’s teams. Key events include various international tours and tournaments aimed at promoting cricket within the country. With a strong focus on development, particularly for women’s cricket, CAN aims to cultivate talent at the grassroots level while pursuing success in international competitions.
