Kuwaiti technology authorities have partnered with Microsoft to accelerate digital transformation in the country. This collaboration aims to enhance Kuwait’s position as an AI hub in line with Vision 2035, foster innovation, improve workforce skills, and ensure cybersecurity of national infrastructure.
On Wednesday, Kuwaiti technology and communications authorities entered into a strategic partnership with Microsoft aimed at accelerating the nation’s digital transformation. The Central Agency for Information Technology and the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority will work with Microsoft to fortify Kuwait’s status as a center for artificial intelligence, in accordance with the nation’s Vision 2035.
Omar Al-Omar, the minister of state for communications affairs, emphasized that this partnership marks a pivotal advancement in utilizing AI technologies to bolster Kuwait’s economic diversification initiatives. The project aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship while equipping the workforce with essential skills for leadership in emerging technologies, as reported by the Kuwait News Agency.
Additionally, the partnership will establish a security framework that employs Microsoft solutions to safeguard Kuwait’s national digital infrastructures from cyber threats. Microsoft is also poised to initiate a program aimed at enhancing the digital competencies of the Kuwaiti workforce, specifically in areas such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
Samer Abu-Ltaif, president of Microsoft for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, stated that this collaboration will improve Kuwait’s digital infrastructure and promote economic sustainability. He mentioned that Microsoft will work alongside Kuwaiti tech authorities to bolster cloud infrastructure and strengthen cybersecurity within the public sector.
Al-Omar further announced that the Kuwaiti government plans to deploy Copilot for Microsoft 365 solutions across government agencies, thereby improving their efficiency and productivity. Preparations are underway to establish the Copilot Solutions Center of Excellence, alongside new data centers designed to meet the increasing demands from the private sector for high-performance computing solutions and access to Microsoft services.
