Nepal Women’s T20 Team Defeated by Namibia in Uganda Series

On March 8, Nepal faced defeat against Namibia by six wickets during the women’s T20 International series held at Entebbe Cricket Oval, Uganda. With a rain interruption that reduced the match to 15 overs, Namibia’s revised target was set at 71 runs. They successfully pursued this target in 14.5 overs, losing four wickets in the process.

Mekelaye Mwatile was the standout performer for Namibia, scoring 26 runs off 35 balls, while Jurriene Diergaardt contributed 13 runs not out. Other notable players included Edelle van Zyl with 8 runs and captain Sune Wittmann, who scored 7 runs. For Nepal, the bowling efforts saw each of the captains Indu Verma, Kabita Joshi, Pooja Mahato, and Ishwori Bista claiming one wicket each.

Nepal, batting first after losing the toss, managed to score 92 runs for 10 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Samjhana Khadka was the top scorer for Nepal with 18 runs off 11 balls, followed by Ishwari Bista with 17 runs, Kabita Joshi with 16 runs, and Pooja Mahato who added 13 runs. They also benefited from 15 additional runs in the match.

Looking ahead, Nepal is scheduled to play its second match against Uganda on Sunday. Following that, the team will compete against Hong Kong on March 10, Namibia again on March 12, and finish the series with matches against Uganda on March 13 and Hong Kong on March 14.
