On Saturday, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) expressed strong condemnation of the attacks carried out by remnants of the former Syrian regime against Syrian security forces. The UAE Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Syria, expressing solidarity with the Syrian people in their struggle.
In response to the massive onslaught by loyalists of Bashar Assad in the coastal region of Jableh, military and security forces from across Syria convened to support the struggle against these assaults. The conflict led to the deaths of 11 members of the Syrian army during the fighting.
Additionally, Gayyas Delle, a commander among the deposed regime forces, announced a military council aimed at seeking the overthrow of the current government, further escalating tensions in the region. Since the Baath Party’s regime ended in December 2022 with Assad’s departure to Russia, there has been a significant shift in the political dynamics within Syria.
Following the regime’s collapse, Ahmed al-Sharaa emerged as a leader of the anti-regime forces and was appointed transitional president on January 29, signaling a potential change in governance and power structure lasting over two decades under Assad’s leadership.
