A delegation from the European Parliament’s Committee on Development (DEVE), composed of seven Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and led by Chair Barry Andrews, is scheduled to visit Tanzania from February 24 to February 26, 2025. This mission aims to gather first-hand insights regarding Global Gateway initiatives and various ongoing development cooperation projects, assessing their influence on the local economy and populace.
During their visit, the MEPs will focus on the effects of EU investments throughout the country, targeting specific sector projects and evaluating the broader impact of the EU’s flagship Global Gateway initiative. Over the course of three days, delegation members will tour projects dedicated to water and sanitation, economic growth, port infrastructure, gender equality, education, and sustainable fishing practices.
Furthermore, the MEPs plan to engage with Tanzanian government ministers, representatives from EU diplomatic missions, UN agencies, development banks, private sector entities, and national development agencies.
