In a recent nationwide campaign, Saudi authorities have detained 18,489 individuals for various violations relating to residency, labor, and border security laws. This crackdown occurred from November 28 to December 4, as announced by the Ministry of Interior, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among security forces and government agencies.
Among those arrested, 10,824 individuals were found guilty of violating residency laws, while 4,638 were apprehended for border security offenses, and 3,027 violated labor regulations. Additionally, 1,125 individuals attempting to illegally enter Saudi Arabia were caught, with a significant portion comprising Yemeni (42%) and Ethiopian (56%) nationals, while the remaining 2% were from other countries.
Authorities also detained 57 individuals trying to unlawfully exit the Kingdom. In a related effort, 31 individuals have been arrested for aiding and abetting these violations, specifically for transporting, sheltering, or employing illegal residents.
The Ministry is overseeing legal proceedings for 25,484 expatriates, including 22,604 men and 2,880 women. Of these, 17,981 have been referred to their respective diplomatic missions for necessary travel documentation, while 2,427 individuals are in the process of making their departure. Notably, 9,529 individuals have already been deported from Saudi Arabia.
The Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning against individuals facilitating illegal activities, highlighting potential consequences that include imprisonment for up to 15 years, fines reaching SR1 million, and the seizure of vehicles or properties associated with these offenses.
