As of now, 2,700,736 surgeries have been performed, significantly reducing waiting lists for necessary surgical procedures. The initiative has also received substantial engagement from the public, with over 260,000 inquiries registered through the dedicated hotline. The range of covered surgeries includes treatments for heart conditions, orthopedics, and several other critical health issues.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the spokesman for the Ministry, stated that the initiative addresses the historical challenges of long wait times for essential surgeries. Prior to the program, patients faced waits of one year to eighteen months. The current average waiting period has drastically improved to just two to three weeks, showcasing the initiative’s effectiveness in healthcare delivery.
