Richard Ramdeholl to Captain Guyana Under-15 Cricket Team in Championship

Richard Ramdeholl will lead the Guyana Under-15 team in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-15 Championship in Antigua. The 14-member squad includes four returning players, with Brandon Henry as vice-captain. The team seeks to enhance its past performances with a strong bowling attack and strategic gameplay.

Richard Ramdeholl is appointed as the captain of the Guyana Under-15 cricket team, which will compete in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-15, 50-over Championship from April 13 to April 24 in Antigua. The squad, announced by the Guyana Cricket Board, features 14 players, with all-rounder Brandon Henry serving as vice-captain.

Ramdeholl, who previously led the Berbice team to an unbeaten title run in the Guyana Cricket Board Inter-County competition, and Henry, who captained Demerara to a third-place finish, are two of four returning players from last year’s team. The other returning players include wicketkeeper Justin Dowlin and all-rounder Jathneil Nurse, both from Essequibo.

The complete roster comprises: Justin Dowlin, Lomar Seecharran, Luke Amsterdam, Shahid Ramzan, Arif Bacchus, Richard Ramdeholl, Nathaniel Ramsammy, Jathniel Nurse, Usain Fredericks, Brandon Henry, Reyaz Latif, Patrice Fraser, Rafael McKenzie, and Prosper Jacobus. Reserve players include Khush Seegobin, Joshua Thomas, Bomesh Lall, Nathan Bishop, Tameshwar Deonandan, and Tyrese McPherson. Yeuraj Khemraj will serve as the Coach, whereas Yogeshwar Lall takes on the role of Manager.

In the Inter-county championship, Henry emerged as the leading run-scorer with 92 runs. Teammate Ramzan also performed well with 91 runs, including a notable score of 51 against Essequibo. Only three players managed half-centuries in the tournament: Dowlin (55), Ramzan, and Jacobus (53*). Other key contributors for Berbice included Bacchus and Seecharran, who scored 89 and 78 runs, respectively.

Demerara’s leg-spinner Reyaz Latif was the standout bowler, having taken nine wickets, including a best of 7-20 against Select XI, marking the sole five-wicket haul of the competition. Joshua Thomas, who is on standby, also claimed nine wickets as a left-arm ‘chinaman’ bowler. Ramdeholl followed closely with eight wickets during the tournament. Nurse’s inclusion is attributed to his effective wickets and runs for Essequibo, augmenting the squad’s spin attack alongside fellow bowlers Henry and Latif.

The selectors strategically enhanced the squad with a versatile pace attack featuring Patrice Fraser, Rafael McKenzie, Jacobus, and Fredericks in anticipation of potential bonus points influencing the championship outcome. Guyana last claimed the regional Under-15 championship title in 2015 under the leadership of Ashmead Nedd.

The Guyana Under-15 cricket team, led by captain Richard Ramdeholl and vice-captain Brandon Henry, is poised for competition in the upcoming regional championship in Antigua. The squad features a mix of returning talent and newcomers, aiming to build on past successes. With a focus on a strong bowling lineup and crucial batting performances, the team aspires to reclaim the championship title last won in 2015.
