Pakistan has formally requested the Afghan government to take decisive action against the individuals responsible for the recent attack on the Jaffar Express in Balochistan. Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan highlighted that the assault on the passenger train is indicative of a terrorist agenda originating from outside the country’s borders. He appealed to the Taliban-led Afghan administration to collaborate with Pakistan to combat terrorism effectively.
On Tuesday, a terrorist group attacked the Jaffar Express near Sibi, taking over 400 passengers hostage. Pakistani security forces executed a rescue operation, successfully eliminating all 33 terrorists, leading to the safe recovery of the passengers by Wednesday. Tragically, 21 civilians lost their lives prior to the commencement of the operation, along with four personnel from the Frontier Corps who also died during the mission.
In addition to addressing the attack, the Foreign Office spokesperson condemned Israel’s blockade of humanitarian assistance and the cessation of electricity supply to Gaza, describing it as part of a systematic campaign to weaponize aid and dehumanize the Palestinian populace. Mr. Khan denounced the ongoing Israeli assaults in the West Bank and Gaza, which have resulted in significant civilian casualties, including women and children.
He urged for a halt to hostilities in the region, emphasizing the need for the protection of civilians and unrestricted access to humanitarian aid for those in dire need. The spokesperson called upon the international community to intervene and hold Israel accountable for its alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Furthermore, the spokesperson criticized the Indian government’s decision to declare the ‘Awami Action Committee’ and ‘Jammu and Kashmir Ittihad-ul-Muslimeen’ as unlawful organizations for five years. He pointed out that this action further increases the number of prohibited Kashmiri political entities to 16, illustrating a harsh stance by Indian authorities in the region.
Mr. Khan urged the Indian government to lift restrictions on Kashmiri political parties and called for the release of all political prisoners. He reiterated the necessity of adhering to UN Security Council resolutions regarding Jammu and Kashmir and highlighted the significance of establishing a sovereign and independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds Al-Sharif) as its capital to ensure lasting peace.
