On March 12, 2025, the 5th meeting of the Coordination Committee of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) took place in Istanbul at the Secretariat’s building. The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Türkiye, M. Ishangulyev, represented Turkmenistan at this significant event.
Delegations included Deputy Foreign Ministers from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan, as well as Hungary’s Ambassador to Türkiye. Additional attendees comprised the Secretaries General of OTS, TURKSOY, TURKPA, and other leaders from various Turkic institutions such as the Turkic Academy and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.
The meeting’s agenda focused on assessing progress on decisions made during the 11th OTS Summit, discussing collaborative initiatives, and reviewing the Action Plan for 2025. Participants also delivered reports on their activities in 2024, reflecting ongoing efforts in line with OTS objectives.
During the meeting, the Turkmen delegation underscored the significance of promoting peace and trust. Ambassador Ishangulyev highlighted Turkmenistan’s efforts in fostering dialogue and international cooperation, particularly in light of the nation’s commemoration of 30 years of permanent neutrality in 2025.
The delegation further emphasized the importance of the UN General Assembly’s forthcoming Resolution, initiated by Turkmenistan, proclaiming 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust. This initiative reinforces Turkmenistan’s commitment to advancing international peace efforts and building trust among nations.
