Claro Colombia has successfully migrated critical systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, reducing data latency and deployment time, while also investing in cybersecurity and AI capabilities to enhance its services.
Claro Colombia has enhanced its operational efficiency by transitioning its critical systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This migration has resulted in a significant reduction in transactional data latency in Bogotá to between four and five seconds. Furthermore, the deployment time for new infrastructure has decreased from four months to two weeks, leading to improved team productivity as noted during the company’s Tech Summit.
The company’s cloud operations are hosted at the Triara datacenter, which represents a US$100 million investment located along the Bogotá-Medellín highway. The partnership between Claro and Oracle, established in 2022, involved a US$25 million investment in the datacenter and the transfer of over 100 on-premise servers vital for mission-critical processes to Oracle’s cloud infrastructure.
Since its launch, Oracle’s Colombian cloud region has expanded its customer base from seven to nearly 500 and has increased its service offerings from 20 to over 150. This has resulted in a doubling of cloud consumption, according to insights provided by the companies involved.
In addition to the migration, Claro has announced an investment of 15 billion pesos (approximately US$3.6 million) aimed at enhancing its technical capabilities, software, and AI technology. This investment is intended to bolster cybersecurity measures and integrate AI into the company’s corporate solution offerings.
Claro Colombia’s strategic move to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure has markedly improved its operational efficiency, with decreased latency and faster infrastructure deployment. The substantial investments in both the datacenter and cybersecurity measures demonstrate Claro’s commitment to enhancing its service offerings. Furthermore, the partnership with Oracle has proven successful, reflecting significant growth in the cloud customer base and service range.
