The Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF) will occur from March 24-26, 2025, featuring a workshop by CLG focused on legal challenges in Congo’s energy investment sector. The workshop aims to provide insights into legal frameworks and strategies to mitigate risks, as Congo seeks to enhance resource monetization and attract investment to boost oil production and electricity access. Registration is now open.

The Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF) will be held from March 24-26, 2025, in Brazzaville. This inaugural event will include a workshop by the legal firm CLG, formerly Centurion Law Group, focused on the challenges present in Congo’s energy investment sector. The Republic of Congo aims to enhance energy investment and socio-economic development through various strategies to drive resource monetization, project development, and local capacity building.

On March 24, the workshop titled “Mastering Business in Congo: Legal Challenges and Strategic Solutions for Success” will examine essential legal aspects such as corporate law, taxation, immigration, labor law, and regulatory compliance. Industry experts from CLG will provide insights into the legal factors affecting investment decisions within the African energy sector.

The workshop intends to highlight how Congo’s investment landscape can accelerate the monetization of its natural resources. CLG’s extensive experience in the African market equips businesses with the necessary management skills and expertise to navigate Congo’s energy sector effectively. At CEIF 2025, the country is set to unveil its Gas Master Plan and new Gas Code, focused on reducing energy imports and increasing electricity access for the population, currently at a mere 50%.

Additionally, Congo will announce an international oil and gas licensing round during CEIF 2025, aiming to attract investment in both marginal and deepwater blocks. This initiative aligns with the country’s goal to bolster oil production from 274,000 barrels per day to 500,000 barrels per day by 2027, thereby stimulating exploration on- and offshore while also addressing production declines.

The aforementioned workshop will enable attendees to master the complexities of the regulatory landscape and understand its impact on various investment types in the energy sector. CLG will assist delegates in developing actionable strategies to mitigate legal risks and protect investments against potential future challenges.

“At CEIF 2025, we recognize that navigating the complex legal and regulatory landscape is crucial for successful investment in Congo’s growing energy sector. This workshop, led by CLG, offers a pivotal opportunity for investors and stakeholders to gain valuable insights into the legal frameworks that underpin the energy market,” remarked Daoudou Mohammad, Tax and Legal Director at CLG.

CLG is a distinguished provider of specialized legal and tax advice to a diverse array of multinational companies. With a team proficient across various sectors and offices in multiple African countries, CLG tailors solutions to meet the unique challenges of their clients. The firm’s expertise includes energy, infrastructure, mining, agriculture, and ESG, positioning it to effectively support clients in navigating Africa’s dynamic market landscape.

Registration for the workshop is currently open. CEIF 2025, held under the patronage of President Denis Sassou Nguesso and supported by pertinent ministries, will convene international investors and local stakeholders to discuss energy and infrastructure opportunities. The forum will also cover the latest gas-to-power projects and updates on ongoing developments in the Republic of Congo.

The CEIF 2025 in Brazzaville is set to address critical legal challenges and strategic solutions necessary for fostering energy investment in Congo. With workshops by CLG focused on enhancing understanding of the legal landscape, the forum presents a unique opportunity to engage with national and regional developments in the energy sector. As Congo seeks to boost its oil production and improve energy accessibility, these engagements are essential for unlocking the full potential of its resources.
