The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has expressed pleasure regarding the remarkable improvement seen in the NCF/PwC U17 Cricket Championship. The sixth edition of the tournament, which recently concluded in Abuja, witnessed numerous surprising outcomes and the establishment of new records, garnering commendations from various stakeholders, particularly the event organizers.
Musa Ehizoje, the tournament director, remarked on the competition’s ability to highlight the regional advancements in cricket. He observed, “Overall, the standard of the game has improved significantly and we saw that over the past weekend.” A notable example included the North Central team, which challenged five-time champions South South, and North Central’s victory over one-time champion North West, alongside a 93-run win by North East against South West in the female category.
Ehizoje, who also serves as the Public Relations Officer for the federation, noted an increase in global audience interest due to Nigeria’s performance in the Under 19 World Cup held in January. The tournament was broadcast live and featured several World Cup players, creating a rich talent pool for both Under 19 and senior national teams in the male and female categories.

The six geopolitical zones were represented in this edition of the tournament, which began on Thursday and concluded on Sunday.
