Allegations of Treachery Emerge Within Zanu PF Amidst Factional Strife

The supporters of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga have accused Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa of being a double agent working for foreign powers. This follows Mutsvangwa’s critical remarks about Chiwenga’s capabilities for succession. The accusations highlight deeper factional disputes within the ruling party, as Chiwenga’s supporters defend him vigorously against perceived threats.

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s supporters are defending him following the release of a recording in which Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa criticized Chiwenga’s potential succession of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Mutsvangwa’s remarks have prompted allegations that he is allegedly a double agent working for foreign interests. This incident highlights the ongoing factional conflicts within the ruling party, which party officials continue to downplay publicly.

A group known as the General Chiwenga Voluntary Supporters Association (GCVSA) asserts that their mission is to expose Mutsvangwa, whom they claim the military has identified as a spy. They allege that a military intelligence dossier links Mutsvangwa to espionage activities. According to NTokozo Msipha, the GCVSA Secretary General, this information validates suspicions that Mutsvangwa is engaged in acts intended to undermine Zimbabwe from within.

Mutsvangwa’s derogatory comments about Chiwenga included labeling him as unelectable and cruel, accentuating the challenges related to Chiwenga’s private life, particularly concerning his ex-wife Marry. This critique aligns with some factions within Zanu PF who aim for Mnangagwa to retain power beyond his 2028 term. Intriguingly, Mutsvangwa’s previous involvement in the coup that removed former President Robert Mugabe now places him under scrutiny from Chiwenga’s supporters.

Chiwenga’s supporters issued a strong condemnation of Mutsvangwa, emphasizing that the public will not be misled by his actions. They firmly assert that he is not a true revolutionary but rather a political opportunist. This sentiment encapsulates their determination to prevent destabilization within Zimbabwe and maintain the integrity of the country’s leadership against perceived threats.

The ongoing conflict among members of Zimbabwe’s ruling party has intensified with allegations against Christopher Mutsvangwa, claiming he is a traitor colluding with foreign entities. The assertion by the General Chiwenga Voluntary Supporters Association highlights the escalating factionalism within Zanu PF. As tensions rise, Chiwenga’s supporters remain resolutely committed to safeguarding Zimbabwe’s political stability against any perceived adversaries.
