The Interior Minister received a food donation from HUDAI Foundation to support inmates. The donation included essential supplies and was part of the foundation’s charitable initiatives. The minister emphasized the importance of improving inmate well-being and encouraged further support from organizations. HUDAI Foundation also plays a crucial role in various humanitarian efforts across Ghana.
The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has received essential food donations from the Human Development Association International (HUDAI) Foundation, a Turkish humanitarian organization active in Ghana. This donation, on behalf of the Ghana Prisons Service, is part of the foundation’s annual charitable initiatives to support inmates.
On March 14, 2025, the donation included various food items such as rice, cooking oil, tomato paste, sugar, and spaghetti. The minister expressed gratitude for this generosity during a speech on March 21, 2025, emphasizing how such contributions can ease the circumstances faced by prisoners.
He assured that the donated supplies would be utilized appropriately and encouraged other organizations to follow suit. The Minister stated, “Imprisonment is not a death sentence. Providing for inmates improves their well-being and aids in their rehabilitation.”
Project Coordinator Abdurahim Yüce, speaking on behalf of Remzi Şeker, General Coordinator of the HUDAI Foundation, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to humanitarian service. He noted that their efforts are driven by goodwill, requesting only prayers in return for their contributions.
As part of their Ramadan initiative, HUDAI Foundation has distributed over 8,000 food packages to families, aiming particularly to support those fasting. These packages contain rice, cooking oil, spaghetti, tomato paste, and sugar, also benefiting underprivileged individuals, including prisoners.
The foundation, supported by the Turkish government, has significantly contributed to Ghana’s development across various sectors such as infrastructure, education, and humanitarian aid. Notably, it constructed the 15,000-capacity Ghana National Mosque in Accra, which is the second-largest mosque in West Africa.
The mosque complex features a library, office spaces, residential apartments, and facilities for research, education, healthcare, administration, and conferences. Moreover, the foundation actively works on providing clean water solutions throughout Ghana, having constructed multiple boreholes in regions lacking access to potable water, targeting particularly underprivileged areas.
In conclusion, the food donation from HUDAI Foundation to the Ghana Prisons Service highlights a significant humanitarian effort aimed at improving the lives of inmates. The Interior Minister’s acknowledgment of this contribution underscores the importance of supporting marginalized communities. HUDAI’s broader initiatives, including educational and infrastructure development, further demonstrate its commitment to fostering positive change in Ghana.
