Pick n Pay Namibia to Rebrand as Model: A New Era in Retail Begins

Ohlthaver & List Group (O&L) has officially announced that the Pick n Pay stores in Namibia will be rebranded as ‘Model’ beginning on July 1, 2025. This transition marks the end of a 27-year franchise agreement with Pick n Pay South Africa as they reclaim full control over their brand.

Graeme Mouton, the Managing Director of Model, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming changes, indicating that the new brand will introduce a unique shopping experience with quality products suited to customer needs. He stated, “Customers can look forward to a new benchmark in grocery retail that is designed around their needs – one that is inspiring, seamless and uniquely Namibian.”

The launch of Model will be implemented gradually, featuring a phased refurbishment process leading up to the official launch across Namibia. Mouton invited Namibians to be part of this journey, hinting at a transformative retail experience to come, saying, “The countdown to a revolutionary retail experience has begun.”

Sven Thieme, O&L’s Executive Chairman, highlighted the brand’s historical roots, noting that their retail journey began with Model in 1965. He emphasized that this name change signifies an evolution in shopping practices, reinforcing their dedication to employees and customers while sustaining service quality. Thieme remarked, “This transition is more than a name change; it is a bold evolution that will redefine how Namibians shop.”

The changes being implemented aim to not only preserve customer loyalty but also to enhance growth opportunities for the brand in the Namibian marketplace, setting the stage for exciting developments in the retail sector.
