Rafatu Inusah has been elected President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union for a four-year term, succeeding Herbert Mensah. Rafatu Inusah has been elected as the new President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) for a term of four years. Inusah, previously a Board Member, stood unopposed and succeeds Herbert Mensah, who is now the President of Africa Rugby. With a solid background as an athlete, coach, and administrator, Inusah is prepared to lead Ghana Rugby into a new era of development.
Inusah envisions a strong future for Ghana Rugby, stating, “We are going to tirelessly work together to make sure that Ghana Rugby is well represented. I am happy and proud of all of us, not myself and very humbled.” She will work closely with Vice-President Emmanuel Bamfi to revitalize the sport within the country and enhance its representation on a continental level.
The elections featured notable stakeholders such as World Rugby’s Dave Gilbert and Acting Director General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, who attended the event. Additionally, new board members were elected unopposed: Prince Kwaku, Emmanuel Kalos, Abdul Saeed Samed, and SaCut Amenga-Etego. Anita Atieku was appointed as the Women’s Representative.
As Inusah embarks on her presidency, she builds upon the strong foundation established by her predecessor, Herbert Mensah. Under Mensah, Ghana Rugby achieved full membership in World Rugby in 2017 and Rugby Africa. Inusah’s challenge will be to leverage this momentum and elevate Ghana Rugby further.
