As the deadline for individual tax return submissions approaches, Rasha Abdel Aal, Head of the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA), informed taxpayers that there are only 16 days left. Tax returns for individuals must be submitted by 31 March 2024, while those for companies are due by 30 April 2024.

The Ministry of Finance aims to enhance voluntary tax compliance and has initiated various support measures for taxpayers. A key aspect of this initiative includes a comprehensive assistance program featuring daily free seminars, conducted by experienced instructors, to help individuals and accountants with the electronic filing process and address any questions.

Support committees are established across several professional syndicates, civil society organizations, and business federations to further assist in simplifying the submission of tax returns. Moreover, the Digital Services Center located at the Treasury Headquarters in Lazoghly offers technical assistance, equipped with advanced digital tools and expert support for electronic filers.

In her remarks, the ETA chief emphasized the importance of adhering to deadlines through the electronic tax system and utilizing the free technical support provided. She also specified that taxpayers registered under the First and Second Large Taxpayer Centers and related entities in various locations are required to submit their returns via the new core tax system on the ETA’s official website, while all other taxpayers should continue using the tax services portal.

In conclusion, the ETA is actively promoting timely tax return submissions through enhanced support mechanisms. By offering free seminars and establishing support committees, the authority is committed to facilitating a smooth electronic filing process. Taxpayers are encouraged to utilize these resources and adhere to submission deadlines.
