The 2025 Đà Nẵng International Marathon, scheduled for March 21-23, is set to break records with over 7,000 runners anticipated from 72 countries and territories. This event marks the highest participation rate in the marathon’s twelve-year history, with nearly 3,000 international athletes, reflecting a notable increase of 42% from 2024. Race participants will enjoy the scenic beach backdrop of Đà Nẵng, merging competitiveness with a family-friendly vacation atmosphere.
Athletes will compete in various categories including a full marathon (42km), half marathon (21km), and a 5km fun run, alongside two distances for children in the ‘Ronny Dash’ (500m and 1.5km). Prominent runners such as Shadrack Kipkemboi from Kenya and Issel Kawabata from Japan, as well as Vietnam’s notable athletes like Phạm Ngọc Phan, will partake in the features of the race.
To enhance participation, the marathon has removed the 10km category in favor of more full and half marathon entries. This year’s event coincides with the 50th Anniversary of Đà Nẵng City’s Reunification Day, recently established as an attractive location for elite runners. The month of March is chosen for its favorable weather, aiding athletes in optimal performance for the marathon.
The fundraising efforts for this event aim to reach an unprecedented US$20,000, led by veteran Dennis Zaborac and the Silver Stride team, dedicated to local charitable initiatives. Contributions will benefit organizations such as the Plum Orphanage, the Đà Nẵng Association for Agent Orange victims, and Village of Hope Đà Nẵng among others.
Last year witnessed Kenyan Kiptoo Edwin and Vietnamese athlete Phạm Thị Bình winning the male and female categories, demonstrating the competitive spirit of the marathon, which is certified by esteemed organizations such as the International Amateur Athletics Association (IAAF). The Đà Nẵng International Marathon continues to foster community engagement while promoting health and fitness.
The 2025 Đà Nẵng International Marathon showcases a record-breaking number of participants, reflecting a significant increase in global interest. With diverse race categories, top athletes, and charitable initiatives, this event not only emphasizes sportsmanship but also supports local communities. The marathon’s strategic timing and scenic route further enhance its appeal, ensuring a memorable experience for participants and families alike.
