Only one more service area remains to reopen in New York.

The New York State Thruway Authority has announced the opening of the Angola Service Area on I-90, catering to both eastbound and westbound travelers. This service area marks the 26th to reopen as part of a significant $450 million investment aimed at redeveloping and modernizing all 27 service areas along the Thruway.

The Angola Service Area offers a selection of food options, including popular franchises such as Shake Shack, Chick-fil-A, and Panda Express. Additionally, Auntie Anne’s and Cinnabon are expected to open soon. There are three Starbucks locations available, including one inside the restaurant and two Drive-Thru options located in both parking lots.

Other features of the Angola Service Area include outdoor seating, dog walking areas on both sides of the highway, a private nursing area, and a digital tourism kiosk. Moreover, the site will soon include four Level 3 high-speed electric vehicle chargers, enhancing its appeal for modern travelers.

Thruway Authority Executive Director Frank G. Hoare, Esq. emphasized the project’s significance by stating that reaching this milestone allows for a seamless journey on the Thruway. With all service areas now operational from Albany to the Pennsylvania border, the project nears completion with only one location remaining to open.

The redevelopment initiative exemplifies the Authority’s commitment to modernizing transportation infrastructure and ensuring safe and reliable travel for motorists on the Thruway.
