Shan Masood, Pakistan’s Test captain, has signed an all-format deal with Leicestershire for the 2025 season. Shan Masood, the captain of the Pakistan national cricket team, has signed with Leicestershire for the 2025 season on an all-format deal. The 35-year-old opener will join new club captain Peter Handscomb and Netherlands international Logan van Beek. Masood is expected to arrive at Uptonsteel County Ground after the Pakistan Super League (PSL) concludes in mid-May, in preparation for the Foxes’ Vitality Blast opener on May 31.
With over 22,000 career runs since his debut in 2007 and 45 centuries to his name, Masood is nearing 12,000 first-class runs and maintains an impressive average of approximately 40. He is also a formidable competitor in limited-overs formats, boasting a T20 average of 26.53 with a strike rate of 125.3, and over 52 in List A matches.
Masood, who has been capped 70 times for Pakistan, possesses significant experience in county cricket. He made an impressive debut season with Derbyshire in 2022, scoring 1,832 runs across 28 matches, before moving to Yorkshire, where he led the team to promotion to Division One during his two-year captaincy.
