Rajendra Prabhulall, former Mayor of Anna Regina, has passed away. He was a dedicated pastor and civil servant, having also worked as an information officer and teacher. His contributions to education and local government were significant, and he served two terms as mayor, continuing his commitment to the community throughout his life.

The late Rajendra Prabhulall served the Anna Regina community diligently, both as a pastor and a public servant. Initially, he worked as an information officer in Region Two before being elected as Mayor of Anna Regina for two terms. His educational journey began at St Laurence Anglican School in Hampton Court, followed by a teaching career starting at the Fisher Primary School in 1976.

In 1980, after transferring to the Port Kaituma Primary School due to his father’s job relocation, Mr. Prabhulall eventually returned to the Essequibo Coast to establish his family. He continued teaching at various schools, including Sparta Primary and St Laurence Anglican Primary School. Seeking better financial opportunities, he transitioned in 1992 to manage the Lima Fish Port Complex before becoming the Regional Information Officer for the Regional Democratic Council, ultimately retiring in 2015.

In a remarkable turn of events, he pursued public office once more in 2018 by running for Mayor of Anna Regina, winning the election and serving for an additional two years. Throughout his life, Mr. Prabhulall was active in ministry as the pastor of the Voice of Faith Ministries, demonstrating his commitment to service in both spiritual and civic spheres.

Rajendra Prabhulall’s life exemplified dedication to education, public service, and faith. From his early teaching career to his impactful roles as manager and Regional Information Officer, he significantly contributed to the Anna Regina community.
