Recent Burglary Attempt at PSG Defender Willian Pacho’s Home

Willian Pacho, a PSG defender, was the target of a burglary attempt while representing Ecuador for the FIFA international break. The incident involved shattered glass at his home but no theft, thanks to his housekeeper alerting authorities. Pacho joins numerous PSG players who have faced similar threats, emphasizing a troubling trend in the safety of footballers’ residences.

In recent times, the alarming trend of burglaries targeting professional footballers’ residences has escalated, irrespective of their geographical location or league affiliation. Willian Pacho, a defender for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), is the latest victim of such an incident while currently representing Ecuador during the FIFA international break, where La Tri competes against Venezuela and Chile for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

According to Le Parisien, citing police sources, an attempted break-in at Pacho’s home in western Paris occurred on Wednesday. Reports indicate that the attempt resulted in shattered glass on his veranda; however, no valuables were stolen. The prompt action of his housekeeper, who alerted authorities in the early evening, likely prevented further issues.

Pacho is among several PSG players who have experienced similar intrusions. Past victims include Sergio Rico, Ángel Di María, and Éric Maxim Choupo-Moting. Notably, Thiago Silva suffered significant losses, with hundreds of thousands of euros stolen from his residence.

On March 14, 2021, a coordinated burglary occurred when both Di María’s home and Marquinhos’ parents’ house were broken into, resulting in a physical assault on Marquinhos’ father. The criminals involved received sentences totaling seven years and five years, with a portion of the latter suspended.

Additionally, Gianluigi Donnarumma and his partner were subjected to a terrifying incident in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, which culminated in valuables worth approximately half a million euros being taken. Alexandre Letellier and his family also faced threats involving weapons during their experience with intruders.

The recent burglary attempt at Willian Pacho’s home is indicative of a distressing trend affecting professional footballers, including several notable players from PSG. These incidents underscore the persistent need for enhanced security measures for athletes, particularly during international duties. The pattern of targeted burglaries highlights the risks faced by sports professionals due to their public profiles and valuable possessions.
