The lecture, titled “Media Lessons of the Palestinian Genocide: Propaganda, Silencing and Informative Resistance,” served as a closing for the IV International Colloquium “Patria.”
The final sessions of this three-day conference included significant panels such as “Reprogramming the Net: Strategies to Mitigate Polarization and Hate Speech in Digital Environments,” led by José Manzaneda, a journalist from Cubainformación. Another panel, “Technologies for Emancipation: Alternative Communication and Information Sovereignty in the Global South,” featured presentations by Jorge Arreaza from Venezuela and Sacha Llorenti, a Bolivian university professor.
This esteemed forum brought together experts including Pascual Serrano and Carlos Penalva from Spain, Alina Duarte from Mexico, and Gabriela Rivadeneira from Colombia, as well as others from Argentina, Brazil, Ghana, India, and Vietnam. The discussions focused on the strategies employed by the Global South against Western information hegemony, the role of media as political actors, and consumption trends in the digital age.
Under the theme “We Are Peoples Weaving Networks,” the IV International Colloquium “Patria” attracted nearly 500 participants from over 40 countries. Participants engaged in discussions addressing left-wing political communication strategies in the context of an ongoing media war.
