The Indian Navy’s INS Tushil has recently concluded its first visit to Dakar, Senegal, significantly enhancing diplomatic relations between the two countries. During a productive three-day engagement, Captain Peter Varghese held discussions with Rear Admiral Abdou Sene, focusing on strengthening naval cooperation and mutual maritime security initiatives.
The visit featured a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE), where the Indian Navy showcased its NISHAR – MITRA terminal, alongside a joint Yoga session that brought together the Yoga Association of Senegal and Navy personnel. INS Tushil also welcomed approximately 150 visitors from both the Indian diaspora and the local community, highlighting the growing presence of the Indian Navy in the region.
The visit culminated in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Senegalese naval vessel PHM Niani. This collaboration emphasizes the significance of joint efforts in promoting regional security and marks an important milestone in enhancing interoperability between the two naval forces.
