Vietnam and Mozambique: Strengthening Bilateral Ties Through Cooperation

Vietnam regards Mozambique as a key partner in Africa, aiming to enhance cooperation across various sectors. Ambassador Trần Thị Thu Thìn presented her credentials to President Daniel Francisco Chapo, who expressed support for deepening bilateral ties. Both leaders emphasized the potential for Vietnamese investment in Mozambique and collaboration in sectors such as mining and telecommunications.

Vietnam holds a high regard for its enduring friendship and collaboration with Mozambique, designating it as a pivotal partner in Africa. Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique, Trần Thị Thu Thìn, articulated this commitment while presenting credentials to Mozambican President, Daniel Francisco Chapo, on March 19 in Maputo. She expressed a desire to enhance solidarity and cooperation for mutual benefits as well as for global peace and development.

In response, President Chapo congratulated Ambassador Thìn on her new role, conveying confidence in her potential to significantly bolster bilateral relations. He acknowledged the evolving friendship between the two nations over the past fifty years, citing Movitel, a successful joint venture between Vietnam’s Viettel Group and Mozambique’s SPI company, as a representation of their cooperation. Additionally, he encouraged further investment from Vietnamese businesses into Mozambique.

Ambassador Thìn reiterated her dedication to fortifying the amicable relationship while expanding cooperation, especially in emerging sectors such as mining, telecommunications, information technology, and digital transformation. Furthermore, she urged the Mozambican government to support the Vietnamese community in Mozambique to strengthen bilateral ties.

The Ambassador also communicated greetings from Party General Secretary Tô Lâm and State President Lương Cường to President Chapo, congratulating him on his recent election as chairman of the Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo) and his inauguration as President. She extended an invitation for President Chapo to visit Vietnam in the near future.
