Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has vehemently denounced the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza and repeated acts of aggression against Lebanon. In a recent conversation with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fawad Hussein, he attributed these violations to tacit support from the United States and called for urgent international action, particularly from regional and Islamic nations, to halt Israel’s misconduct and prevent further regional instability.
Araghchi emphasized the serious threats posed by the United States’ use of its military bases in neighboring countries for aggressive actions against regional populations. He urged all countries in the region to take appropriate measures to safeguard their sovereignty and prevent their territories from being exploited by foreign military forces that compromise national security.
He also warned neighboring nations to remain vigilant against seditions incited by the United States. Regarding the illegal US sanctions on Iran’s oil industry, Araghchi dismissed the allegations made by US officials, asserting that they lack any credibility.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister voiced his substantial concern about the ongoing conflicts in the region, noting the severe consequences stemming from persistent hostilities in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. He highlighted the urgent necessity for regional cooperation to alleviate the Palestinians’ suffering and maintain peace and stability throughout the area.
In a separate discussion with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, Araghchi assured that the developments in Turkey are an internal matter. He expressed faith in Turkey’s capability to address current challenges aligning with its national interests.
In earlier developments, Israel had to agree to a ceasefire with Hamas in January due to its inability to achieve its objectives, including the dismantling of the Palestinian resistance or securing the release of captives. Although the ceasefire was marred by Israeli violations, it was meant to last for 42 days until March 1. After this period, Israel recommenced hostilities, violating ceasefire and prisoner-exchange terms.
Additionally, following significant losses, Israel had also agreed to a ceasefire with Hezbollah on November 27. However, since this agreement, Israel has continued to breach terms and has conducted daily assaults on Lebanon.
