Rojas Garavito noted that both Colombia and the Philippines share a commitment to achieving “lasting peace and development.” The formal diplomatic relationship between the two nations commenced on July 5, 1946, and currently, approximately 100 Filipinos reside in Colombia.
In his remarks to Ambassador Sin of Cambodia, Marcos emphasized the existing strong foundation between the two countries since their diplomatic relations were established on August 20, 1957. Marcos welcomed continued efforts to deepen cooperation, while Sin reiterated his commitment to advancing mutual prosperity for both Filipinos and Cambodians. As of June 2024, an estimated 7,500 Filipinos live in Cambodia.
In addressing Ambassador Fediv of Ukraine, Marcos reaffirmed the Philippines’ support for ongoing peace initiatives in Ukraine, stating the nation’s willingness to engage in discussions aimed at supporting peace efforts despite geographical distances. Diplomatic relations with Ukraine began on April 7, 1992, and there are currently around 24 Filipinos residing in the country.
