SiCarrier’s Ambitious Roadmap: ASML-Compatible Tools Coming by 2026

SiCarrier, a prominent Chinese chip equipment firm, recently made headlines at SEMICON China by revealing its strategic roadmap. The company has successfully developed lithography machines designed for 300-mm wafers utilizing 28nm processes and is poised to release an enhanced version that complies with ASML and Applied Materials technologies by 2026 according to anue.

The report highlights that SiCarrier is actively refining its products for compatibility with domestic fabs, as noted by Market Director Zhao Min. Furthermore, SiCarrier’s Chief Technology Officer, Chen Dong, revealed that the company is collaborating with several fabs to construct joint laboratories, with an expectation to announce its initial commercial orders by the end of the fourth quarter in 2025.

SiCarrier is already established in the industry with significant clients, including China’s foundry leaders like SMIC and Hua Hong Group, and has commenced production of certain etching equipment tailored for power semiconductor lines. Additionally, the company plans to expand its research and development centers to over ten cities and set up service centers in Europe and Southeast Asia over the next three years.

Founded in 2022, SiCarrier has a notable leadership backdrop, with Dai Jun, its technology chief, also serving as a supervisor for China’s Big Fund II, and being a board member of SMIC. Notably, it’s reported that SiCarrier collaborates with Huawei as a state-backed semiconductor equipment developer.

In another development, SiCarrier garnered attention in 2023 for patenting a method to produce 5nm chips using DUV tools, a significant advancement linked to Huawei’s 7nm chip in the Mate 60 Pro. At SEMICON China, despite not showcasing lithography tools, SiCarrier impressed attendees with its extensive range of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, which includes metrology, inspection systems, and testing equipment, according to Tom’s Hardware.
