UAE Engages in Key Discussions at Second BRICS Sherpa Meeting

The UAE participated in the second BRICS Sherpa Meeting to prepare for the upcoming Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. Discussions focused on drafting statements and enhancing cooperation among BRICS members. His Excellency noted the importance of achieving tangible economic benefits for member states, while also holding bilateral meetings with other countries. Separately, the UAE congratulated Sierra Leone’s President on Independence Day, condemned a car-ramming incident in Canada, and welcomed peace agreements in Africa.

The United Arab Emirates recently participated in the second BRICS Sherpa Meeting, aimed at preparing for the upcoming Foreign Ministers’ Meeting set for April 28–29, 2025. During this meeting, various members discussed the drafting of the Foreign Ministers’ Statement, as well as explored essential areas for cooperation among the member nations.

In his comments, His Excellency highlighted the significant need for concrete economic outcomes that would benefit the economies of BRICS countries. He also praised the commitment among group members to enhance economic collaboration, indicating a strong belief in the potential for collective growth.

On the margin of the meetings, His Excellency conducted several important bilateral discussions with the Brazilian Sherpa, acting as the host country, along with Sherpas from various other nations to explore strategies for bolstering collaboration and strengthening bilateral relations.

In related news, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, inaugurated the 34th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre. The event is running from April 26 to May 5, 2025, with the theme “Knowledge Illuminates Our Community.”

The UAE has also expressed its approval regarding the recent signing of the Declaration of Principles between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Rwanda in Washington, aimed at promoting peace and stability within Africa. The UAE emphasized that this development showcases the persistent efforts of all involved parties.

Additionally, the UAE condemned a tragic car-ramming attack that occurred during a Filipino community festival in Vancouver, Canada, which led to fatalities and injuries among innocent individuals.

Lastly, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended congratulations to Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone, in honor of the nation’s Independence Day.

The UAE has actively engaged in international discussions, particularly during the recent BRICS Sherpa Meeting, focusing on economic cooperation among member states.
