Parliamentary Press Corps Urges Leaders to Prioritize Journalists’ Welfare

The Dean of the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPC), Mr. Simon Agianab, has called upon President John Mahama, Speaker Mr. Alban Bagbin, and Chief Justice Justice Gertrude Torkonoo to prioritize the welfare of journalists. This request was made following his re-election to a second three-year term as the PPC Dean on March 7, 2025.

In his address, Mr. Agianab emphasized the necessity for improvements in working conditions for journalists. He underscored ensuring their safety and providing the requisite resources for effective reporting, proclaiming that “a vibrant democratic society thrives on the watchdog role of journalists.”

Mr. Kwaku Sakyi-Danso from Ghanamps.com was re-elected as General Secretary with 42 ‘Yes’ votes, while Ms. Deborah Dzivenu from Mountain Radio became the new treasurer with 44 ‘Yes’ votes, joining other retained executives for the next three years in leading the Corps in parliamentary coverage.
